Seeing as Glastonbury usually involves a lot of rain, why not spend the £265 you would've/could've spent on sitting in a field of mud on one of these European festivals instead?
Because let's get real for a sec. Looking past the fact you probably struggled to get your hands on a Glasto ticket anyway (sorry), a festival abroad could be just the ticket anyway. We're talking sunshine and skiing; swimming and sunbathing, and incredible line ups, combined with a mini holiday. What's not to love?
Dates: 30 April-3 May 2020
Location: Cafe Del Mar, Malta
Price: Tickets for Lost and Found festival can be booked for Dhs525general admission, while the festival's official travel partner Choice Holidays is offering decent packages on accommodation and flights.
Vibe: Set on the Mediterranean island of Malta, the award winning festival offers pools, boats, clubs and castles - plus a killer lineup of Annie Mac, Denis Sulta, Honey Dijon and more.
Dates: 5-11 August 2020
Location: Óbudai-sziget, Budapest
Prices: A five-day ticket with camping is Dhs1,212 (approx £251), while return flights to Budapest for under £150 aren't uncommon.
Vibe: Sziget has built itself a reputation for being the European festival to go to, because it's set on the island of the Dunabe, and gives revellers the opportunity to explore the city of Budapest in the day before travelling by tram or river ferry to the site by night. The line up for 2020 hasn't been released yet, but Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine and The 1975 headlined in 2019. Nice.

Location: Mayrhofen, Austria

Vibe: Snowbombing Festival takes Apres ski taken to a whole other level. You spend your days on the slopes skiing off a Jager hangover and nights dancing in pop up locations across the resort - with the option for cable car raves, too. Not one for vertigo sufferers. The line up this year includes Liam Gallagher, The Streets, Loyle Carner and Chase and Status.

Location: The Garden, Tisno, Croatia

Location: Banffy Castle, Transylvania
Prices: Tickets at Electric Castle start at £121 with camping (£96.73 without), and flights to Transylvania come in at around £140.
Vibe: A unique experience, shaking up the way people interact with music, technology and art. This festival experience is like no other, welcoming 170,000 people within the walls of 15th century castle for five days of fun. Line up includes Floating Points, Foals and Twenty One Pilots.

Vibe: This week long festival is a celebration of all things positive, set in a sun drenched location and promising boat parties, beach parties and dancing all night long. Line up includes a mixture of names from house, disco, techno, soul, R&B and funk.

Prices: It's Dhs173 for a full three-day camping festival pass, plus your flights to Bulgaria and transfer to the festival. Undoubtedly still cheaper than Glasto, though.
Vibe: Whether it's yoga in the mountains, dancing 'til dawn or napping in the fields, anything goes at this party in the mountains.
Dates: 18-20 July 2020
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Prices: Tickets are Dhs688 for three nights, and you can find Airbnbs, hostels or hotels in the surrounding area super cheap. Plus, getting good deals on flights to Barca is common.
Vibe: Few can rival Sonar for its selection of extracurricular activities, so if the likes of AJ Tracey, The Black Madonna and The Chemical Brothers don't take your fancy, the tech/arts/other options on offer definitely will.
Dates: 2-9 September 2020
Location: Dhërmi, Albania
Prices: Packages start at Dhs621 including accommodation and festival pass, and all tickets come with accommodation options attached.
Vibe: A brand new festival for 2020, welcome Ion Festival to the arena. Set across a whole week, Ion promises to get you exploring, dancing and connecting with 3,000 other like-minded festival goers, in the beautiful Albanian Riviera.
Dates: 16 - 19 July 2020
Location: Benicàssim, Spain
Prices: A four day festival ticket will cost around Dhs529 including camping. Alternatively, a normal ticket is £90, plus average Airnbnb costs, at around £50 a night per person.
Vibe: Benicàssim has definitely made a name for itself on the European festival circuit, and have just announced Khaled, Basement Jaxx, Liam Gallagher and Armin Van Buuren as their big headliners for the weekend.
Date: 17-19 July and 24-26 July 2020
Location: Boom, Belgium
Price: 249 euros (around £210, inclusive of booking fee), which is around the same price as Glasto.
Vibe: Tomorrowland is celebrating its 16th anniversary in 2020, which means it's bound to be big. Set across two weekends, the festival welcomes 400,000 guests from over 200 countries, all enjoying the likes of David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Marshmello.
Dates: 8-12 July 2020
Location: Zamárdi, Hungary
Prices: Dhs685 for a three day pass, plus Dhs101 for camping, or additional accommodation. You'll also need to consider transfers from Budapest or Zamárdi airport, which are both 110 km away.
Vibe: Europe’s largest beach festival has announced Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Kygo as headliners this year, while also teasing not-to-be-missed pool parties, DJ sets and so much more.
Dates: 13- 18 August 2020
Locations: For the first time, Dimensions is moving to The Garden Resort, Tisno, Croatia

Vibe: Dimensions has relocated for 2020 after eight years, in the hope of creating something bigger and better than ever. Expect a live performance from Floating Points, as well as Nicolas Lutz, Kosh and many more big names from the world of electronic music.

Location: Zrce Beach, Croatia
Prices: A 3-day Fresh Island festival ticket costs £102. Flights to Croatia come relatively cheap, and then you'll have to sort transfers to Zrce Beach and accommodation near the festival site.
Vibe: Crowned Europe's number one urban music beach festival, see big names across hip-hop, grime and R&B including Wizkid and Tim Westwood while experiencing the beauty of Croatia at beach and boat parties.
Dates: 14 - 16 August 2020
Location: Helsinki, Finland
Prices: Dhs890 (plus booking fee), accommodation and travel.
Vibe: Arguably one of the best line ups of the year, Flow Festival hosts 150 performers including Bon Iver, Stormzy, DJ Koze and FKA Twigs. Within walking distance of the centre of Helsinki, the festival takes place at a former power plant area, making it perfect for touristing by day and having all the fun by night.

Prices: A wristband to the festival costs £142 (inclusive of booking fee), while packages including accommodation start at £295 per person, plus your flights.
Vibe: If you're desperately trying to decide between a ski holiday and a festival, why not combine the two at Snowboxx? Glide down the slopes by day, and see the likes of Annie Mac, DJ EZ, Hannah Wants and The Sugarhill Gang (!) by night.

Location: Roskilde, Denmark
Prices: A full festival ticket to Rosklide Festival will cost you around the same as Glastonbury (approximately Dhs1,217) but it's almost guaranteed the weather won't be as bad.
Vibe: It's the 50th anniversary of the festival, so it's undoubtedly going to be one to remember.Taylor Swift, Tyler, The Creator, Pusha T and Muru Masa have already been confirmed to play. It's an eight-day festival, has over 170 acts as well as spectacles of art and performance, and that's not forgetting the fact it's non-profit (all proceeds go to charity).
