You don’t need to live in Dubai for long before you start to notice the stray cats that are constantly roaming the streets, void of any shelter, food, or anyone to look after them. It breaks our hearts every time.

Precious little felines shouldn’t have to fend for themselves in this big world, so Kittysnip, a Dubai-based animal welfare group is giving them a helping hand. They have organised countless pet adoption days to re-home abandoned and vulnerable cats (and kittens) within the emirate. Their efforts have resulted in the adoption of over 158 cats, since they began in 2016. In addition, they have also raised over Dhs383,000 for medical issues such as bite wounds and dental care, ensuring the highest possible amount of treatment is available for these at-risk cats.
Although they were only formally established in 2016, they have been at work rescuing cats for 12 years now. It’s safe to assume that they care about this cause and are willing to put in 100% for the benefit of these cats. Adoptees include cats that have either been neglected, abandoned or may be suffereing from an injury.
In addition, to seeking a home for these stray cats, Kittysnip is raising awareness for this issue. Carol Geldenhuys, Founder of Kittysnip said, “Sadly, for every cat we rescue, at least another 100 suffer or die on the streets. We not only want to inform people about the multiple benefits of adoption but also the commitment involved when taking on an abandoned or neglected cat or kitten.”

During September, The Courtyard at Al Quoz will host adoption days for these furry friends, where you can get your hands on them!
Saturdays (1st, 8th, 15th and the 29th September) From 10.30am to 4.30pm
Fridays (21st and 28th September) From 12pm to 5pm
If you’re unable to attend those, not to worry. The Pet Shop in Al Quoz will also give you the opportunity to adopt your very own kitten. On the 7th and the 21st of September, between 11.00am and 6.00pm, and they’ll continue to host adoption days on the first and third Friday of every month! (easyvet.com)
“It’s no secret that there are more cats in Dubai than we know what to do with. An average female cat will have between two and three litters a year, of four to six kittens per litter,” added Geldenhuys. Kittysnip relies solely on sponsorship and donations from a range of partners across the emirate including Noble Veterinary Clinic, Blue Oasis Veterinary Clinic, Royal Canine, Dubai Pet Food (The Petshop), Mediastow, Urban Tails, Hair Lounge, Mukund Jewellers, to feed, sterilise and cover veterinary bills.
Kittysnip is always on the look-out for animal lovers and businesses who share similar interests in this cause, to sponsor cat food supplies, or the neutering of street cats (to prevent overpopulation of strays).
