We don’t mean to alarm anyone but the first glimpse of the upcoming series of Game Of Thrones has been released and we have a lot of thoughts about what is literally three seconds of footage.

HBO unveiled a glimpse of the eighth season in a general promo for their 2019 line-up amongst other clips from True Detective season 3 and Big Little Lies season 2.

The really frosty hug between Sansa Stark and Jon Snow (at the 1:10 mark) doesn’t exactly give much away in terms of plot, but it’s enough to tide fans through until the series premieres next year.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – otherwise known as Jaime Lannister – recently revealed that showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff couldn’t have “done a better job” when it comes to tying up the loose ends on the show.

“I mean, when I read [the script] – I’ve spent so many years working on this and been guessing and trying to figure out how this will end – and when I read it, some of the parts of it I’d get, and other parts of it were just completely shocking and surprising,” he said.

Teasing a conclusion of epic proportions, he added: “All the pieces fit into this massive jigsaw puzzle.”

HBO boss Casey Bloys previously explained why it would take so long for the finale to hit screens: “Here’s what I’ll tell you: They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality.

“As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger — big battle scenes, big special effects. These things take time.”

Roll on 2019.
