1. Bad nails. With so many affordable mani/pedi bars, there’s really no excuse.
2. A suspicion of other people. Relax, if you lose your phone/wallet/goldbars (!?), someone will always hand it in.
3. Seasons. So. Much. Sunshine.
4. An aversion to bright lights. We heart a lightshow.
5. A boring past. Everyone’s got an interesting pre-Dubai story. What’s yours?
6. A fireplace. Or central heating. What even is that?
7. Scepticism. Who said an indoor rainforest would never work?
8. Affordable rent. But then, a view like this costs.
9. Patience. Especially not when you are talking to a customer service agent

10. Pessimism. Maybe it’s all the sunshine but we’re all about positivity.
11. The right of way on the road. The other driver will always snatch it.
12. A fear of heights. All the good stuff happens above the 100th floor.
13. The perfect body temperature. It’s ffffrrreezing inside (thanks, aircon) but blistering outside.
14. A dislike of shopping. That would be like living in Disneyland and hating Mickey Mouse.
15. A taxi driver who knows where he is going.
16. Deadlines. Does Inshallah mean yes or maybe?
17. A penchant for the understated. You say understated, we say boring.
18 .Beautiful winter woollies. Sigh.
19. A brunch that doesn’t fill you to bursting. So many buffet stands, so little time.
20. A car left where you thought you parked it. Hands up who hasn’t lost their car in Dubai Mall?
21. The desire to be called anything other than ‘Siirrm’aam’ when you enter a restaurant/shop.
22. An exercise obsession that isn’t yoga. We love us some downward-facing dog. Preferably on the beach.
23. A missing sweet tooth. Four words: Lime Tree Carrot Cake.
24. A clapped out old banger of a car. That’s just not how we roll.
