In the summer my approach to fitness is pretty pathetic, but probably pretty normal. Food, Aperol Spritzes, and lots of late nights take precedent over healthy living and clean eating – and rightly so, tbh. We all deserve a break.
But now it’s back to reality, which means time to renew that gym membership. The first class back hits different; it’s always a struggle to pull yourself out of bed for that first 6am alarm post-summer hols, however we’ve got some classes on our radar that will help with your motivation.
So don’t beat yourself up because you fell off the wagon, practice self-compassion and celebrate the fact that you’re taking steps to start working out again—and yes, reading this article counts as a step.
The Den
Teachers, cabin crew and general insomniacs who just wake up super-duper early, rejoice! The Den has just launched additional class timings, including a brand-new 5am slot, meaning classes now operate 7 times a day (5, 6, 7, 8, and 9am, plus 5 and 6pm). From upper body Mondays to “throwdown” on a Saturday (can confirm: it is as savage as it sounds), this functional fitness gym will put you through your paces every day of the week. Oh, and they’re offering not one but a two class free trial – see ya there!

Barry’s
Everyone’s favourite OG spot for a good sweat, you just can’t go wrong with a Barry’s class. Cosmo favourites include any of Connor’s classes (they’re scrumdiddlyumptious – iykyk), Victoria’s lower body LIFT classes, and if you fancy really pushing yourself then book in for double treadmill and thank me later.

Studio 14
With it being such an Instagrammable activity, the Pilates scene in Dubai can be ever so slightly pretentious for me – but not here! Studio 14 is full of heart and warmth, from the people to place itself. Each room only hold about 6 Reformer machines, meaning classes feel more like a group PT session where you can actually have rapport with your instructor and your neighbour. I also highly rate their activewear collection, too.

Trax Running Club
I know it still feels like a million degrees outside, so you might be wondering why on earth I’m recommending a running club, but I promise that cooler climes are on the way! I love running for its solitude and being able to switch off from the world, but if you’re someone who needs a bit of extra motivation, you’re training for a race of any sort, or even if you’re just looking to make new friends, Trax definitely ticks all the boxes.
