For the first time in TV reunion history, somebody might’ve actually pulled it off. Of course, it had to be none other than former Disney legend Miley Cyrus. It wasn’t depressingly dragged out just for the sake of it. It doesn’t artificially manufacture nostalgic moments that fall awkwardly short. And, it still gives a nod to modern pop culture without giving us the ick, yay! Here’s your EYNTK memo:

The bangers

The 20th Anniversary Special aired on Disney+, giving us a scrolling-through-snapshot-memories Hannah who talks music, gossip, and Pink Pony Club? Oh yes. With hit classics like “The Climb” to a new track Cyrus wrote for the Hannahversary titled “Younger You,” the hour-long homecoming left our throats hoarse (and our noses a little stuffy).

Call Her Daddy? Ariana, what’re you doin’ hereee

Who better to get all the juicy deets than podcast host Alex Cooper, duh. See? Modern but not cringe. From disclosing Cyrus dated Disney co-star Dylan Sprouse back in the day (we knew we were onto them), Miley gave us just enough of something that would have made us lose it in our tween years without pushing it.

The A-listers, of course

A portion of the interview segment cameoed her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus (sentimental), fellow Disney star Selena Gomez (iconic), and Chappell Rowan (new cool). Rowan actually went on to tell Cyrus how much she was inspired by the show, saying, “You literally walked so I could run.” Cute 🎀.

Remember when everyone was using “I’ll always remember you” for their grad TikToks? Felt like that was just yesterday. Anyways, brb, busy headbanging with my mom to the og soundtrack like it’s after-school days again (feeling profoundly emo #whatever).
