Much like oat flat whites and TikTok addictions, being obsessed with Greta Gerwig is pretty much a right of passage for women of a certain age (me. I am women.) There’s nothing more comforting than settling down to her stellar writing and all-star casts, for a film that you just *know* is going to hit all the right spots.
Of course, you’d be hard pushed to miss the Barbie hype, but she’s also the brains behind some brilliant scripts, as well as a number of other movies she directed – and starred in. Here’s a look back at Greta Gerwigs movies for your next night in.

Frances Ha, 2012
- IMDb rating: 7.4
- Rotten Tomatoes rating: 93%
As well as writing Frances Ha, Greta also stars as Frances, a woman from New York who dreams of being a dancer. However, things take a turn when her flatmate moves out, forcing her to live with two friends, Lev (Adam Driver) and Benji (Michael Zegen.) A black and white comedy about dwindling dreams and making the best of a bad situation.

Mistress America, 2015

Snow White, 2024
Yep, a Greta Gerwig x Disney collab is on its way! The award-winning writer is at the helm of the live action remake of Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. While the Snow White story will remain at the centre of the retelling, we have no doubt a Greta Gerwig feminist twist is coming our way – and we can’t wait.
