Should I drive in Dubai today?
There’s been no message from authorities to say not to drive, but The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has taken to social media to ask private sector companies to apply flexible work patterns until further notice.
The post reads: “MoHRE reiterates the importance of taking precautions in outdoor work environments where it is difficult to suspend operations, urging employers to ensure workers’ health and safety during their commute to and from these sites and that occupational health and safety requirements are met.”
Is Sheikh Zayed Road open after the storm?
Many residents are reporting that parts of Sheikh Zayed Road, the city’s main road, is driveable. Videos shared on X show that there are long lines of traffic.
Virgin Radio Dubai reports that there are three lanes open on Sheikh Zayed Road but that it’s closed from Manara Road.

Is Hessa Street closed?
Since yesterday there have been no updates on whether Hessa Street has reopened. On Thursday April 18th Virgin Radio reported that Hessa Street is closed and that the area should be avoided.
Which roads are open in Dubai after the storm?
Taking to X, the RTA has said that traffic is now flowing on roads including Airport Road, Al Nahda Street and the intersection of Al Khawaneej Street and Algeria Street.
Sharjah to Dubai is driveable via Emirates Road.
Al Wasl Road and Beach Road are accessible, according to Virgin Radio Dubai as well as the route between The Greens to Downtown via Sheikh Zayed Road.
The traffic report also claims that Al Nadha 2 to Cargo Village is fine, as well as Trade Centre via Sheikh Rashid Road to Garhoud is clear and that JVC still has some flooding but it is possible to get out.
Which roads are closed in Dubai after the storm?
Umm Suqeim Abu Dhabi bound is closed and there are also closures from Dubai South to Expo via the 311.
The 311 Sharjah bound from International City is closed until Al Awir Road, Under the bridge at Dubai Festival City is also closed.
There’s yet to be an update on if the closures between Al Fayah Road and Jebel Ali both ways, Al Khail Road is also affected from d3 to Meydan Road have changed.

Taxis are operating in Dubai after the storm but with long wait times and cancellations. It depends whether the area you are in is badly affected by rainwater.
