Ariana Grande Explained The Meaning Behind Her New Song, '7 Rings'

We were excited enough about Ariana Grande's thank u, next when she released it (and its magical Mean Girls/Legally Blonde themed video) in November - but keep with the pace, because she's already releasing song number two from her new music.

Ariana has started stirring up excitement all over Insta for her latest single, 7 Rings, which will be released on January 18. And of course, that means fans are already speculating about what the new track could be about, considering thank u, next contained some major tea spilling.

On Twitter back in December, one fan asked outright what 7 Rings is about, and Ariana kindly obliged by sharing on the details, which we're only just reading in to now.

From the info she gave, we have reason to believe the song could have been written during the time Ariana was dealing with the immediate aftermath of her break up with Pete Davidson, who she dated/fell in love with/became engaged to/broke up with in the space of just a few months last year.

"‘twas a pretty rough day in nyc", Ariana wrote on Twitter. A rough day in NYC? Sounds pretty like the breakup blues to me.

Anyway, she continued: "My friends took me to tiffany’s. we had too much champagne. i bought us all rings. it was very insane and funny."

On their way back to the studio, one of Ariana's friends suggested they turn their ring splurge into a song and, well, that's what we'll all have the pleasure of hearing in just 6 days.

Can't wait to read every lyric and perform a thorough psychoanalysis.
