The singer, rapper, and model joined the boy group in 2018 after he appeared in the music video of fellow NCT member Ten’s song Dream In A Dream in 2017. He was featured in the K-pop band’s studio album NCT 2018 Empathy. Soon, he became a fan-favourite as he worked on his music career and starred in the popular Chinese show Keep Running. We LOVE a multitalented performer.

So… why did Lucas leave NCT and WayV?

NCTizens are wondering why the 24-year-old talent decided to step down suddenly. According to SM Entertainment’s official statement on Allkpop, Lucas decided to leave NCT and WayV to “pursue solo activities.”

The statement read, “We would like to deliver our thanks to the fans for their endless love toward our artists, and ask that you continue to show your attention and support.”

Lucas took to Instagram to share an emotional letter with fans. “It has been nearly 8 years since I first joined the members, and I am deeply grateful for their care and support. I will cherish these memories and never forget,” he wrote. Lucas continued, “It took considerable time for me to reach this decision, and I believe this is the right decision for the good of all. I will strive to become a more mature Huang Xuxi and an even better Lucas.”

While the statement confirms everyone’s suspicions, it doesn’t delve into fan theories of why Lucas actually left NCT. In the past, the Hong Kong native was accused of cheating and indecency which fans think may have led to his untimely departure.
