Fans have been speculating how an awards evening, which usually boasts a few thousand in attendance, would have gone ahead as usual and still maintained social distancing. Well, turns out the MTV kinda lied to us all…
According to Page Six, most of the performances, red carpet interviews, and awards presentations were filmed literally days in advance.
A source also revealed that “talent, as well as any members from their team who flew into New York to shoot a pre-recorded performance, were required to quarantine for three to four days before their scheduled shoot. Those on set, including dancers, glam teams, and management, then had to undergo COVID-19 testing.”
Apparently, the photos of The Weeknd in what appeared to be a rehearsal look on Thursday were actually taken when he was taping his performance at Hudson Yards in NYC. Meanwhile, Maluma shot his performance on Wednesday of last week and Bella Hadid shot a pre-recorded her bit on Friday.
It does make sense, tbh. We are in a pandemic!
