The queen of the music industry’s surprise announcements never go ~out of style~.
Trust us, we’ve been dancing non-stop to Taylor Swift’s nostalgically re-recorded Fearless (Taylor’s version), Red (Taylor’s version) and Speak Now (Taylor’s version). And while that’s been more than enough for us, we’re absolutely pleased to share that next up on Taylor Swift’s rerecorded discography is the iconic 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (!!)
The album marks the international superstar’s strategic transition from country music to the vibrant world of pop. With colossal hits like Shake it Off, Blank Space, and Style, 1989 lyrically and sonically represents Taylor Swift’s coming-of-age in the music industry.
In 1989, Taylor Swift explicitly reclaims the media’s fabricated narratives surrounding her at the time. In Blank Space, the songwriter appropriated the media’s portrayal of her as a serial dater, shutting down the false claims in an artistic way. In the same vein, Shake It Off addresses the singer’s unwavering and zestful willpower in the face of her detractors.
We obviously cannot forget about Style, a song which allegedly alluded to her brief relationship with former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles. What an ~iconic~ time the 1989 era was – and how iconic of it to be coming back around as Taylor’s Version.
But that’s not all. UAE swifties… are you ready for an *extra* special announcement?
