We can’t believe we’re saying this, but there are exactly 27 days, 5 hours, 59 minutes, and 44 seconds (give or take) until Olivia Rodrigo’s new music !!! And no, we’re not exaggerating – the 20-year-old singer-songwriter hasn’t released new music in over 2 years. We truly thought this ceremonious day would never come, but, it’s official – the countdown was posted via Olivia’s official fan account, livieshq.
Olivia Rodrigo’s official fan account doubled down on the musical teasing by posting a video of an iPhone, in which Liv herself says: “Heyyy, you’ve reached Olivia. I suck at voicemail but leave me a text. I’ll get back to you by June 30th – mwah, byeee!” The post was accompanied by the hashtag #OliviaIsComing and 📞💋 emojis.
What we know so far about Olivia Rodrigo’s second album…
Obviously, we’re all well aware of the fact that Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album Sour was a ground-breaking success. Liv capitalized on her well-deserved accolades (including 3 Grammy Awards) by bringing her album-making process to life in a Disney+ documentary titled Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U (A Sour Film).
In February 2022, Olivia told Billboard, “It’s definitely a different experience writing a second album after having a debut that was so well received. I still write so much of my music in my bedroom though, and I don’t think that experience will ever change. Writing songs will hopefully always be an outlet for me to process my feelings before anything else.”
So, we know that Olivia’s cathartic music-writing process hasn’t changed. In fact, it is evident from this Instagram story that Olivia has continued to collaborate with her long-time producer, Dan Nigro. How ~deja vu~!

Liv has proven to be a distinguished *pianist* on many of her tracks, including Drivers License and Traitor. We suspect that the piano playing isn’t going anywhere for her next album, especially since Olivia posted an Instagram video in which she gracefully pressed the keys (with no sound – Olivia, why!)

On Sour‘s 2-year anniversary, Olivia took to Instagram, expressing “oh man oh man oh man. SOUR turns 2 years old today. no words could ever describe how much this album means to me and how insanely grateful I feel for every blessing it has brought into my life. the new stuff is so so so so so close to being done I pinky promise 💓”. And, as usual, she *delivered* and kept her promise!
