Yesterday Beyoncé was honoured with the 2020 BET Humanitarian Award. Oh, and it was presented to her by Michelle Obama.

If there’s anyone on this earth that knows how to deliver a speech, it’s Michelle Obama, and this occasion was no exception. She started her speech by announcing that she was there to present an award to “the queen”. (wonderfulengineering.com) Well, she is.

Beyoncé accepted the award via a video message, and dedicated the award to her “brothers and sisters out there inspiring change”. She also encouraged everyone to vote, “We have to vote like our life depends on it. Because it does”, she said, “So please continue to be the change we want to see”.

Bey received the award due to her work with the BeyGOOD initiative, which includes launching Coronavirus testing initiatives for Black communities, establishing scholarships for students and launching BeyGood’s Black Business Impact Fund.

She is also releasing a new visual album called Black is King, described as a “celebratory memoir for the world on the Black experience”. It includes guest appearances from Pharrell, Jay-Z (obvs), Childish Gambino and even Blue Ivy Carter. And yes, she is 8.
