Molly-Mae first hit our screens as the loveable blonde bombshell in 2019’s Love Island. Fast forward a year and she now has her own Pretty Little Thing collection, her own cosmetics company and over 4.8 million Instagram followers. We caught up with the social media mogul to talk everything from dressing for Dubai to life lessons…
Molly-Mae’s first collaboration with PLT launched a year ago and we have been obsessed ever since, “I can’t believe it’s been a year”, she tells us. “It’s been a dream to be still working with Pretty Little Thing after such an amazing year! I think that my style at its core has definitely stayed the same, but I’m loving being able to work in all of the new trends and colours of the season into my collections.”
Molly-Mae loves a vacay in Dubai, and we were intrigued to know what Pretty Little Thing outfits she would style up for three classic Dubai events: a pool day, brunch and a desert safari (trademark Dubai!). “For a pool day I like being able to switch it up throughout the day so I love floaty trousers or a shirt over a bikini, paired with a huge beach tote”, Molly says, continuing, “my go to for events is a blazer so I think something like the blue dress from my last collection paired with strappy heels and a mini shoulder bag”. And a trip to the desert? “If I’m in the desert it’s going to be hot so a basic bodysuit or tank top paired with some ripped hem shorts and some chunky trainers.”
Molly describes her ultimate style inspo as Hailey Bieber. “There are so many amazing girls to follow on Instagram, but I always go back to my favourite – Hailey Bieber. She just gets it right for every occasion”. A wise choice!
Tommy Fury, Molly’s boyfriend has never been to Dubai, but she said the first thing she wants to do on her next trip is “to have a boat day with Tommy and watch the sunset with him there because he’s never been!”. She loves the atmosphere and the food in Dubai, “I love being able to come away and relax by the pool and then getting dressed up to go out for food at night time – the restaurants in Dubai are my favourite”.
Molly-Mae’s life has changed a whole lot since rising to fame on Love Island, but she says her biggest live lesson which she has learned over the last two year is to “trust your gut and appreciate everything [you] have”. She misses spending time at home with her family and her cats the most since becoming famous, but adds she “wouldn’t change it for the world”. The first thing she treated herself to post-Love Island was some new jewellery, “that’s my favourite thing to do is to treat myself to a new piece when I’ve hit a millstone”, she says.
We also asked her about when we can expect the highly anticipated Filter by Molly-Mae to be available in the Middle East. “Oh I wish it was now!”, she said, “Honestly everyone needs to be able to try it and that’s something I’m working on right for the future”.
We will be seeing Molly-Mae in the Middle East any time soon? “I’m so lucky to be super busy with work right now but I would love to have another trip planned sometime soon, maybe some winter sun!”, she tells us. We’re keeping our eyes peeled at DXB airport!
