Is there going to be Jinn season two?
After the show faced a bit of backlash from the first season, viewers have been speculating whether it will make its return to the streaming service. But, turns out, that it is unlikely to have a season 2, as decisions haven’t landed on any decisions yet. However, here is the whole story…
Jinn is the first Arabic Netflix original series with a supernatural genre. The story depicts jinn (literally meaning ghost) in a tale that unfolds in the city of Petra, Jordan.
The premise follows a school trip to Petra where two jinns – one good, one bad – arise within the human world. The evil jinn’s role to destroy the human world, while the good tries to save the mankind.
The cast and crew faced negative reactions to some of the scenes after season one was released. Many criticised Mira (played by Salma Malhas) for kissing two different men in two different scenes.
One would have expected to see something different, something nice, from a lovely country, but no… it's the same American-centric nonsense forced down the throat of a Jordanian setting#JINNNetflix

what's the point of having local originals if the production feels 100% American #JinnNetflix @netflix

So did that affect the series in having season two? A little. Until Netflix MENA came to the defence of the cast by saying in a statement, “Unfortunately, we followed the current wave of bullying against the cast and crew in the Jinn series and announce that we will not be complacent with any of these behaviors and slogans of the cast. Our position has always been centered on the values of diversity and inclusiveness and therefore we are working to provide a safe space for all series and movie fans around the region.”

Many arab countries did not condone the negative point of view, and found the same scenes acceptable.
I don’t understand why this show is being roasted and criticized, for me it is one of the shows that worth watching #JINNNetflix #jinn pic.twitter.com/9zykY57HUf

It's a good start for Jordanian youngsters, nothing bad about it (except it's too short) we should be encouraging these people to develop and continue their work, instead of criticizing and fighting them over traditions and other unrelated values! well done guys! #JINNNetflix https://t.co/rYF4Z610GV

The Royal Film Commission summed up both sides, explaining that it is okay to have different opinions and small criticisms should not result in cancelling the show.
