Ever since the teaser release of Hailey Bieber’s episode on Call Her Daddy, fans have been eagerly waiting to know if the model mentioned *that* relationship. (Yep, you know the one). Although the internet has been shipping #Jelena since their breakup in 2012, the now-Mrs Bieber has never publicly addressed Justin and Selena’s previous entanglement. Now, Hailey has finally decided to speak out on the allegations that she “stole” Justin Bieber from Selena Gomez, just weeks before the release of Selena Gomez’s documentary.

A few months ago, Hailey took to TikTok to beg fans to leave her alone, claiming that “enough time has passed” and that it’s time for people to get over their obsession with her husband’s former beau.

But this podcast actually marks it as the first time any of the Biebers have addressed the situation directly, finally sharing their side of the story.

Why did their engagement cause a lot of controversy?

Well, first things first, Justin Bieber was seen with Selena Gomez just months before the news of their engagement broke. So, there was *that*. Everyone accused Justin of marrying Hailey to spite Ms. Gomez– but that’s not the reality in Hailey’s words. Even she believed they were both too young for marriage and the timing was “rapid”. She said it seemed “really drastic and crazy” to people who watched them from afar, but it was what they felt was correct for the two of them.

“The only people that really know the truth of the situation, the timeline of it and what went down, are me and him. Perception is a really tricky thing because when you’re watching something from the outside, you can see it one way when it might not be the reality of what happened behind closed doors,” said Hailey.

Did Justin cheat on Selena with Hailey?

The one question we’ve *all* been waiting for was if Hailey was ever with Justin during the same time his and Selena’s relationship was going on. Hailey gave the audience a big no.

“When he and I started hooking up, or anything of that sort, he was not in any relationship. It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship, I was raised better than that, ” she expressed.

“I understand how it looks from the outside, but that was a situation where I know for a fact that it was the right thing for them to close that door, but of course, there’s a very long history there and I respect that a lot. I don’t want to talk on either one of their behalfs.”

How the hate has affected her mental health…

The constant comparison between her and Selena Gomez has gotten to a point where Hailey had to speak to a psychiatrist about it. Alexandra Cooper, the Call Her Daddy host, asked Hailey about the Instagram live incident, in which Jelena fans harassed her with hate comments and support for Justin and Selena.

Hailey responded to Alexis’ question with a simple answer: “There’s a certain numbness that you get.”

Hailey believes Selena doesn’t owe her anything.

A point that caught everyone’s attention is when Hailey pointed out that Selena has never said anything in regard to the hate Hailey has been receiving. (People on Twitter were quick to correct Mrs. Bieber by sharing an IG live that Selena did where she was begging her fans to stop tearing other women down.)

But then Hailey also stated that Selena does not owe her anything, nor does she owe Selena anything “except respect,” and Hailey made it evident that she respects the songstress a lot.
