They stared together in Little Women and now Greta Gerwig has dropped a hint that she is trying to get Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet together. In a 73 questions video interview with Vogue that was released yesterday, Greta is asked if she is secretly trying to get the pair to date, to which she responds, “Who wouldn’t want them to date? They’re so good-looking,” while giving the camera a cheeky grin.
Little Women is the second time Gerwig has cast Ronan and Chalamet as love interests, the first being Lady Bird in 2017. And in summer of 2019 Gerwig told People that the pair had “bonfire” chemistry.
“They have an energy between them that is like they become a bonfire when they’re together. They’re both so alive and they’re both so talented and so smart and so young. When you put them together it’s like combustion.”
While we can all let our imaginations run a little wild at the idea of these curly-haired huns getting together, we should probably remember that Chalamet seems very happily loved-up with Lily Rose Depp and Saoirse-met seem like they’re just good mates. So, let’s all calm down.
Although, I see no harm in letting the fantasy play out in the movie world. Go for it Greta.
