Charlotte Lawrence told her Instagram followers she has tested positive for coronavirus. The 19-year-old singer is asking others to please take this pandemic seriously.

Singer Charlotte Lawrence let her fans know this week that she has tested positive for coronavirus. She’s not the first star to come forward with a diagnosis (that would be Tom Hanks), but she is one of the youngest.

While older people are at a higher risk of getting very sick from coronavirus, young people are still susceptible to it. They also risk spreading it to people who are immunocompromised.

Here’s what Charlotte said on Instagram about her diagnosis, in full:

“Hey guys. A couple days ago, my doctor informed me that I too have COVID-19. A lot of us will. I am going to be completely fine. But many who get it won't be if too many people get sick too quickly.

So this is not me asking for prayers, for love, for sweet messages. This is me pleading for you all to protect those less able to survive this virus.

Stay inside. Please. Whether you feel sick or not, stay inside. Think about your parents. Think about your grandparents. I love so many people who might have a very tough time getting through this.

Think about someone else getting your loved ones sick because they didn't listen, because they thought they knew better. Because they were selfish. We have the power to slow this down. So please, please isolate yourself.

Stay clean. Stay informed. Stay aware and make others aware.”

You heard her, guys. If you’re able, follow her lead and social distance.
