Finally! A celebrity steps up to make a difference. If I had millions of dollars, I would donate some to help Mother Nature but I can barely afford to pay my bills right now.
We’re all concerned about the Amazon fire and what that means for the Earth. While there is A LOT of awareness worldwide, no one has actually stepped up to take charge and set an example… until now.
According to the Earth Alliance website, the organisation has committed Dhs18.3 million to preserve the Amazon rainforest. Their emergency Amazon Forest Fund is working to support local partners and indigenous communities in their efforts to protect the sensitive habitats within the Amazon. The funds will be donated to five local organisations: Instituto Associacao Floresta Protegida (Kayapo), Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), Instituto Kabu (Kayapo), Instituto Raoni (Kayapo) and Instituto Socioambiental (ISA).
In the past week, DiCaprio has taken to Instagram to raise awareness of the Amazon wildfires. He captioned a post “The largest rainforest in the world is a critical piece of the global climate solution. Without the Amazon, we cannot keep the Earth’s warming in check.”
DiCaprio is an advocate for environmental and human rights. In July, DiCaprio, Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth established Earth Alliance, which in Leonardo DiCaprio’s words is, “An organisation committed to climate change, led by an independent management team of scientists and conservationists working to protect ecosystems and wildlife, ensure climate justice, support renewable energy and secure indigenous rights.”
Keep up the good work. Are other millionaires/ billionaires listening?
