Naked Wardrobe is every Instagram girl’s go-to brand when it comes to basics. From dresses to playsuits to swimwear, these threads have been loved by even the biggest of A-listers, including the Kardashians, Selena Gomez, and JLO.Â
Here, we spoke to Shirin, Shida, and Shideh Kaviani, the three sisters behind the brand, about how they made it in the fashion industry.Â
Cosmo ME: How did Naked Wardrobe come about? Did you always know you wanted to be entrepreneurs in fashion?
Shirin, Shida, and Shideh, founders of Naked Wardrobe:  We saw a gap in the marketplace for affordable, high quality fashion that was available for purchase online, without having to dedicate endless hours sifting through hundreds of pages of options before we found something we liked. It was product overload which was frustrating and exhausting. We decided that the best way for us to shop online would be through our very own website where everyone will love everything! We knew from the beginning we could set ourselves apart by creating quality pieces that were size and class inclusive. We started the company out of our parents’ home in 2012.
Cosmo ME:Â What is the best thing about working with your sisters and what is the most challenging?
NW: Our dynamic is great. We balance each other and have different skill sets – and when we combine them, it yields an incredible result. When we need help, we lean on each other. We are truly lucky. The most challenging part of working together would be trying to get all three of us in the same room with our conflicting work schedules.
Cosmo ME:Â Naked Wardrobe is all about embracing curves. Why is this important to you?
NW: Since day one, we’ve celebrated and embraced women of all shapes and sizes. Before we launched, we made a conscious effort to cast healthy, curvier models, which no other brand was doing at the time. Inclusivity is not just a word we throw around, we believe in it to our core. The three of us also have different body types and it’s always been important that we reflect this into Naked Wardrobe. We offer a wide range of sizes, starting at XS and going up to 3XL. We are Middle Eastern ourselves, so we are naturally on the curvier side. We all have different shapes so it’s always been important that we make products that look good on women of all sizes and body types.
Cosmo ME:Â Do you think the fashion industry is doing enough to champion body positivity?
NW: The fashion industry is (finally) waking to a reimagining of traditional beauty and body standards. It’s inspiring to see consumers of all shapes, sizes, sexual orientations and ethnicities demanding inclusivity in representation, product offerings and corporate identity at every level. Brands – both big and small – are being held accountable for making real and lasting changes within their companies and on their platforms, but there is still a lot of work to be done.
Cosmo ME:Â What changes would you like to see?
NW: We want to see brands normalize and celebrate bodies of all shapes and sizes, and offer a full range of sizes across their entire product line. It’s important to recognize that women want to feel confident at any size.
Cosmo ME:Â Who is the Naked Wardrobe woman?
The Naked Wardrobe woman is confident and stylish. Comfort is always important to her. We launched as buyers and slowly transitioned into exclusive collections and everyday basics, and have since evolved to workwear, swim, maternity, and we just launched Baby Basics in our first collaboration with Malika Haqq. We’ve been with our clients throughout their life journeys and have something to offer for all the different stages and milestones in their lives.
Cosmo ME:Â Which celeb would you love to see wearing Naked Wardrobe?
NW: Rihanna! She’s definitely a goal for us!
