Nobody goes skin-deep quite like @lounorthcote. The British model flipped the script on beauty perceptions with her #FreeThePimple movement, sparking a ‘skinstagram’ revolution and urging others to break free from the shackles of perfection and embrace their real skin.
With her witty posts and spot-on advice, Lou has become the skincare guru we all need on our feed, reminding us to love the skin we’re in, above anything else. We’re getting unfiltered to get to know a little bit more about the woman behind the movement.

A skincare product that I swear by
I don’t have the same skincare routine every day, but Murad deep relief blemish treatment is amazing.

A travel destination that I’d visit again
There’s so many like Bali, Copenhagen, New York, Paris, but I love going to new places.

The Holy Grail beauty product we all need
Weleda Skin Food. But remember to listen to your skin. Your skin is different everyday so maybe if it’s dry you need more hydration, if it’s clogged use an exfoliant.

My (not so) guilty pleasure
Tony’s chocolate, the one with pretzels.

A product that changed my life
Pimple patches by Hero Cosmetics, I wish they existed when I first had acne as a teenager. I think we should learn about skincare in school, because marketing isn’t a skin specialist. That’s the hard thing with social media, even I try to say this is what works for me, not saying they should all use it. Trends don’t always have education around them.

One item in my wardrobe that I will own forever
My Saks Potts coat. Plus the blazer I stole from my dad.

The last thing I splurged on that was actually worth it
My Apple AirPod Max headphones, they never leave my head.

The key to being confident in your skin
Play anything by Dua Lipa, Beyoncé or Rihanna. You got this. Take it a step at a time, go on social media and search #freethepimple you will find others who are feeling the same way. Make sure you take time for yourself and try distract yourself with friends, family, school. And remember that your skin doesn’t define you.

I simply must travel with _____ or I’ll *freak* out
My Slip contour eye mask. It blocks the light so I can sleep on planes.
