Huda Kattan’s movement to smash beauty standards is still going strong, sis. She’s just about to drop her newest makeup collection, Empowered, featuring glam makeup made for bold and powerful moves. We chatted with Huda about her newest products, battling self-doubt, and her own personal mindset evolution.

The Empowered Collection
First things first, let’s check out the goodies. “This collection is made up of so many beautiful products including an 18-well eyeshadow palette in elevated, everyday shades, creamy gel liner hybrids, a dew-boosting Face Gloss in an all-new shade, our cult-favorite Legit Lashes Mascara, and an exclusive three-piece eyeshadow brush set with super luxe gold handles and high-quality synthetic fibers.”
One glance at the “powerfully pigmented shades” and we instantly knew Huda wasn’t going for a demure and subdued colour story. With an array of golds, coppers, browns, and neutrals that suit all skin tones in metallic, matte, wet-look shimmers, and gel-liner hybrids, Huda wasn’t playing around. In fact, she’s asking us “to experiment with daring and bold looks. I see the opulent color story in our 18-well eyeshadow palette as visual a representation of ambition and power.”

“I wanted this collection to convey the sense of empowerment I experienced while making it, and hopefully whoever tries Empowered feels the same way. To me, empowerment is about accepting and embracing every aspect of who you are and then unlocking that superpower, that potential, that magic, that is in every single one of us and let it break free.” Huda also gave the shades a series of strong names including Visionary, Best Self, and Courageous. We feel uplifted already.

Speaking of being fearless, we have zero qualms admitting we are legit clueless when it comes to using a Face Gloss. Huda spilled the tea on her go-to technique, so obvs we’re sharing it with you too. “My favorite way to use this product is by tapping it on top of my skincare or makeup using my index finger to add a dewy highlight to the eyes, face, and body. If you’re obsessed with having a beautiful glow, like me, you’re going to LOVE this all-over highlighting gloss that features a dusting of ultra-fine yellow & rose gold pearl flakes.” Dewy-looking skin with a reflective glow, here we come.
Breaking Barriers
“Our Empowered collection is inspired by my own journey towards self-worth and is a reminder to break down barriers and unleash your power from within. We’re all born powerful and have the power to do something absolutely amazing, but we allow ourselves to be limited. We allow ourselves to be defined by others which then creates an identity for ourselves that isn’t true to who we really are.”
Being an OG beauty influencer, Huda knows how overboard filters, blurring, and how unattainable beauty standards became the norm on the ‘gram. Who even creates these beauty standards anyways? “The deeper I go into my journey towards self-love and empowerment, the more I uncover about how much beauty standards have shaped and affected me over the years.”

“I think beauty standards have evolved so much throughout history, and they vary from every person, culture, or region but they stem from obsessions and desires to fit into a specific box. Regardless of what came from the past, I’m more hopeful about the future. I’m eager to see more people experience a more varied world of beauty that isn’t toxic and inundated with unrealistic beauty standards and expectations.”
A continuously evolving mindset
“I’ve grown and changed so much in the past 10 years. I was in a completely different state of mind as to where I am today. I don’t think I would have come out with this collection at the start of Huda Beauty because I see our 18-well palettes as an evolution of my personal journey, each of which carries very deep and sentimental meaning. Every single palette we’ve developed in the past has ultimately led to the Empowered palette. My younger self would be so proud of what we’ve accomplished and how much we’ve grown throughout those years that are filled with fierceness, fearlessness, confidence, and empowerment.”
