Cosmo ME: What inspired you to create the Easy Blur Primer & Foundation, and how does it stand out from other products on the market?
Huda Kattan: The inspiration started when we stopped using filters in 2021- we knew we had to change how we created our products. With this launch, we wanted to give you the ultimate filtered, blurred-looking skin, without needing a filter. We created something that felt like a serum but with the coverage you crave. This launch is super special to me because when we were in the labs, we didn’t stop at just foundation. We decided to create a primer, too. It’s an essential part of our Easy Routine- prime, blur, bake. It’s all you need for a blurred, airbrushed complexion in real life.
Cosmo ME: Can you share some behind-the-scenes details about the development process? What were some of the challenges and breakthroughs?
HK: The foundation was definitely the star of the show and was quite a journey. My team and I worked so hard on over 100 renditions to nail the perfect weightless, real-life filter effect. It wasn’t easy, but we were determined to create the most blurring foundation. Behind the scenes, it’s a lot of hands-on testing, both in the labs and on real faces.
We needed to make sure the product not only looked incredible but also felt incredible and lasted flawlessly throughout the day. We went through so many trial rounds just to get the shade range spot on to ensure it works beautifully for every skin tone. We were absolutely committed to perfecting everything. It took years of hard work to get to where we are now but every challenge we faced made the final products even more amazing, and I’m so thrilled to finally share it with the world.
Cosmo ME: The Easy Blur formula promises a smooth, flawless finish. What are the key ingredients that make this possible, and how do they benefit the skin?
HK: Our foundation is infused with 1.5% skin-smoothing niacinamide and pore-blurring silica to help you achieve that natural, airbrushed finish. This unique formula makes this serum-like foundation feel super comfortable on the skin and easy to apply. It’s super blendable with buildable blur.
Cosmo ME: How does the Easy Blur Primer & Foundation cater to different skin tones and types? Did you have inclusivity in mind during the product’s creation?
HK: When we created Easy Blur, we wanted to make sure this foundation catered to everyone and wanted to create versatile shades so everyone could find the right shade for them. It’s available in 29 shades. Whether you want a gorgeous, blurred natural finish right out of the bottle or a filtered matte look through baking, this foundation suits every skin type and allows for that airbrushed effect.
Cosmo ME: What tips or tricks can you share with us for applying the Easy Blur products to achieve that perfect airbrushed and blurred look?
HK: The Easy Routine is just three steps- prime, blur, and bake for the most blurred skin ever. First, apply a finger-length amount of Easy Blur Primer for each side of the face and blend it into your skin. Next, apply three drops of Easy Blur Foundation to each side of the face and blend with our new Huda Beauty Base brush. If you want the ultimate filtered finish, you can build your blur. Three drops will give you light to medium coverage, and six drops gives medium to heavy coverage. Then, apply colour corrector and concealer to your undereye, and finally, set your face with our iconic Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting powder.
Cosmo ME: As a beauty mogul, how do you think Easy Blur reflects the evolution of your brand and the direction you’re taking with future product launches?
HK: I’m beyond excited about where the brand is heading with Easy Blur. Considering Huda Beauty’s rebrand this year, our Easy Blur launch is exactly the path we’re taking. Huda Beauty will continue bringing you products that deliver that filtered look in real life. I can’t wait for everyone to experience the Easy Routine; the response has been incredible already.
