ICYMI: We *just* had our opening night at City Centre Mirdif and it’s better than ever. If you were there (hi again) and if you weren’t, we had some pretty fashion shows, a live performance by none other than Issam Al Najjar and we had the ultimate masterclass sesh by That Concept Store at Cosmotel’22.

Just in case the tips were way too ~juicy~, we obv made sure to keep our notepad with us to give you the lowdown of everything we’ve learnt.

Cosmotel’s That Concept Store masterclass

There’s no denying the rise of the dewy-glowy makeup and our undying love for it. The That Concept Store masterclass with makeup artist Mai gave us the absolute step-by-step routine on achieving the look with some notes for our beginner friends (It’s me, I’m the friends.)

Let’s talk base first (don’t worry we’re not interrupting your skincare routine): Spritz the Barbara Sturm Hydrating Face Mist as a pre-primer. Then, apply the One Step Correct primer by Stila to help hydrate your skin and protect your pores before using Stila’s Hide & Chic Foundation (it’s so glowy, you have no idea.)

Ofc, concealer is next and Mai went for the Stila concealer, which is perfect for the ones looking for a medium to full coverage product. Now, ladies, there’s a secret of applying and turns out. Pro tip: Use a lighter and darker shade since our under eyes are *especially* a lil darker at the corner of our eyes.

Mai highly recommends Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sensual Skin Enhancer for literally everyone. Why, you ask? It’s full coverage and the saying, ‘A little goes a long way’ fits the bill. “Only one small spot from this can cover your whole skin. You can use it as a foundation, concealer, contour, or correct spots.” said Mai. *My dreams have come true*

She uses the product (which is two shades lighter than the model’s natural skin tone) for correcting spots and applies it under the eyes, as well as around the lips and cheeks for a subtle lift.

Another pro tip: She takes the contour shade and first warms it on her hand to make it soft and creamy to attain that glam look. She later lightly dabs it on the forehead, below the ears with a brush.

She then picks up Stila’s One Step Correct Brightening Finishing Powder and mixes the three shades to set the face across the under eye, contour and highlighter lines. With eyebrow mascara next on the list, she mentions how the best way to apply is by brushing the eyebrows upwards, which helps you to fill up your eyebrows and get that bushy eyebrow look (don’t lie, we know you love the trend.)

Personal favourite part incoming: Eyeshadow (Spoiler alert: It’s literally amaze.) Now, we don’t mean to highjack your favourite eyeshadow shades but shades from Greatest Hits Classics Shadow Palette by Lime Crime kinda deserves their own spotlight. Once you’re done with picking out the shades, we went for the subtle Euphoria shimmer look with Stila’s Glisten & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow for a foxy eye look. P.S. Remember to hold the brush lightly and blend the edges softly.

She went for a smudgy eye look with Stila’s black eyeliner and used the Stila Putty Blush & Bronzer Duo – only applying the blush at the cheekbones for that instant lift. She completes the look with Stila’s matte lipstick in the shade Salina and gently applies it using the eyebrow brush and waits for it to dry. Voilà, we’ve got our perfect soft glam look.
