For the last day at Cosmotel, Elemis hosted a skincare masterclass and may we say it has now become a staple in our everyday morning skincare routines? They gave us all the ins and outs on the right way for our skincare routines by teaching us a step-by-step breakdown on how to give ourselves a salon-quality facial from the comfort of our own homes.

Elemis’ secrets and pro tips to getting the best skin were undeniably informative and as any good friend would we managed to get *all* the info just for you.

First of all, the secret to amazing glowing skin is to always hydrate and use SPF. Especially for us Dubai girlies who live daily under the humid weather (mentally preparing ourselves for June-July.) But before we apply our SPF moisturizer, here are a few steps that should definitely be added to our daily skincare routines.

Cosmotel’s Elemis Skincare masterclass

Cleanser: One should always start by cleansing their face, but did you know there are different ways to do so? You can use a cream, oil or balm cleanser, depending on your skin type. All contain different formulas so pick the one that best suits your skin’s needs.

For example, oil cleansers are more suitable for dryer skin since they tend to stick closer to the skin’s surface. They can also be a multipurpose product because they help with easier makeup removal, as well as SPF residue.

In this case, we will apply the Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash. This face wash encourages the cell renewal cycle of our skin and gets rid of dead skin cells for an overall brighter complexion.

Toner: The toner has to be the number one skincare step that tends to often be overlooked by most of us. Toners are important because they help balance the skin because when the PH level isn’t right, you are more prone to breakouts or develop sensitivity.

Exfoliator: Elemis recommends doing it once or twice a week maximum. There are two types of exfoliants – the physical exfoliants which have granules and the chemical exfoliants which do not. For this masterclass, she uses the BIOTECH ultrasonic peel massage & light therapy which is non-invasive, the blade between the ceramic vibrates, exfoliating the skin and removing dead skin cells built up. As an at-home alternative, you can use the Dynamic Resurfacing Peel & Reset exfoliator.

Pro-tip: If you happen to have dry skin, you can exfoliate up to twice a week. People with dry skin can exfoliate more often because they have extra dead skin cell build-up that needs to be lifted off the surface of the face.

If you have oily skin, you should only be exfoliating once a week or else your natural face oils will be overstimulated which will cause your skin to produce more oils than it needs to.

Remember to exfoliate around the eye area with the BIOTECH Ultrasonic Peel Massage & Light Therapy, you need to reduce the intensity to 5% because eyes are more sensitive and we need to be extra gentle to prevent any wrinkles.

Mask: Lastly, before applying your moisturizer with SPF, you must apply a facemask. In this case, we will use the Dynamic Resurfacing Gel Mask which should only be applied one to two times a week. Elemis recommends applying an activator like the Dynamic Resurfacing Face Wash before applying the facemask to further activate the skin.

Now that all the steps have been completed, you may apply your SPF moisturizer to finish it all off.
