Weddings are expensive – no shocker there. But while you probably imagine most of the expense is things like the dress and the catering, there’s one HUGE one we’d totally forgotten about. Wedding jewellery. And we’re not talking about your rings. A recent study by jewellery specialist L’azurde shows that over half of UAE women have spent more than Dhs18,300 (US$5,000) on wedding jewellery in this year’s wedding season!

Over 450 UAE women said that the number one most important thing when it comes to buying a wedding set is, of course, value for money, with an eye-catching design coming in as a close second making these two definitely in the top three on the priority list.

40% of UAE women said they were happy with a wedding budget under Dhs36,700 (US$10,000), as for the rest, 17% said they would spend over Dhs110,200 (US$30,000) on their big day.

Jewellery, of course, has a majorly important role for UAE women when it comes to planning one of the most important days of their lives. “It is clear that women in the UAE want to look and feel their best on their big day, and one of the main contributors to that is finding the jewellery that’ll make them stand out, while not being too expensive,” says Sélim Chidiac, CEO of L’azurde.

According to Sélim, the most requested wedding bling is: the classic solitaire diamond ring (67%), ranking higher in terms of preference than 18 carat white gold set with diamonds (51%), plain yellow gold set 21 carat (49%), and 21 carat yellow gold set with non-precious stones (48%).

Fancy!
