Apart from the fact that the show tried to maintain social distancing rules, which meant no red carpet and foreseeable glitches – let’s just cut straight to the point, this year’s Emmy Awards was quite a weird one. From Anthony Anderson being censored to Jimmy Kimmel’s not-so-funny joke to the weird Hazmat tuxedos. Here are some of the what-were-they-thinking moments from last night’s award show.

When the incorrect winner was announced

No one expects virtual awards shows to run smoothly without one or two technical issues, but announcing an incorrect winner was quite awkward. Jason Bateman’s was wrongly announced as the winner for guest actor in a drama. Just picture him and his family excited for the win only to be let down…it wasn’t cute to watch.

Jennifer Aniston was almost set on fire…no for real

Not a national treasure going up in flames on live TV. So, Jennifer and Jimmy attempted to “burn the germs” off the official Emmy envelope.

The awkward moment when you don’t win an award

Ramy Yousef gave fans a sneak peek of what happens when you don’t win an award…let’s just say it was an incredibly uncomfortable situation.

The bloody Hazmat Tux was not funny at. all

The award presenters ditched their fancy dresses for a hazmat tuxedo, which for one, is an unfortunate downgrade, I mean 2020 has been uncomfortable as it is, and secondly, no one found it funny.

Anthony Anderson was continuously censored for saying WAP

The Black-ish star was talking about how impressed he was at the academy for having the most black nominees ever, and he referenced “WAP” which he was of course censored for.

Not Jimmy Kimmel’s making an incredibly insensitive ICE joke
John Oliver won the award for Outstanding Variety Show, and for some odd reason, Jimmy made a silly joke about calling ICE on him. It was a wrong move considering people (and children) are being separated against their will from their family daily.
