If TikTok has taught us anything, it’s that pretty much everything is at the mercy of a ‘core’ or an ‘aesthetic’. Gone are the days of plain *existing*, and instead, we’re encouraged to romanticize the facets of our lives through the lens of the #corecore multiverse. Your pink dress suddenly becomes Barbiecore, millennials are scrutinized with millennialcore, and your room isn’t actually a mess, it’s just #cluttercore.
The power of the core club strikes again, this time manifesting itself in the unlikely pairing of grocery shopping and high-fashion to bring us: Errand-Core.
In late 2023 we saw everyday errands incorporated into high-fashion moments. At December’s Balenciaga Fall 2024 show in Los Angeles, Kim Kardashian turned heads when she arrived carrying a paper bag from Erewhon, an LA-based health food store. The models at the show later walked the runway with takeaway coffees and the same paper bags.
Bottega Veneta’s recent campaign also featured paparazzi-style photos of A$AP Rocky and Kendall Jenner running errands with newspapers and tote bags.

We can see elements of Errand-Core seeping into the Gen Z zeitgeist, too. The romanticizing of running errands is something we’re continuously exposed to by influencers, whose daily routines frequently centre around grocery shopping, getting facials, and going to the nail salon. And any ‘clean girl’ or ‘that girl’ will tell you that going for an *aesthetic* healthy food shop is the key to a good IG pic. Errand-core is thus a natural byproduct.

The internet’s fascination with Errand-core is also ushering street style into a new era. Celebrity errand outfit pics, spearheaded by the likes of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, have gained viral momentum since the pandemic (when grocery shopping was literally *all* we could do).

The growing fixation on Errand-Core, arguably, makes perfect sense. After all, dressing up in cute activewear and a tote bag to browse through healthy food isles with a coffee in hand is just another staple ‘girl hobby’!
