Clubhouse has been all the craze recently, from a Late Night Dubai club hosted by DJ Bliss to career advice rooms hosted by Cosmo ME—it was the gift that kept on giving.

Emphasis on *was* since it seems as though our conversations have been cut short. Users have noticed a significant drop in the quality of audio in all Clubhouse rooms.

The app, which has only been available to Apple users, is the newest addition to the world of social media. Using a voice-only approach, their hopes were to act as a catalyst for stimulating conversations (or silly conversations, whatever floats your boat) while taking off some of the pressure of needing to look presentable. Sort of like a podcast but it’s live and you can chime in.

UAE users are assuming the poor quality has something to do with VoIP laws which state that applications providing such services require a license.

The only way to use Clubhouse seamlessly (provided your WiFi is on your side) is to use VPN, however, using a VPN in the UAE is only legal if certain guidelines issued by the government are followed.

Maybe the trouble will resolve itself or maybe it’s time for us to say goodbye to Clubhouse…
