Everyone’s favourite controversial awards show is back and the nominees have been announced (with no females in the Best Director category – yawn) and the show is taking place on 9 February. Put another way, you only have 25 to catch up on the films vying for the Best Picture nod.

While a few are no longer in cinemas, they are in the minority. So, where can you watch what’s available?

FORD V FERRARI

Matt Damon and Christian Bale team up as designer Carroll Shelby and race car driver Ken Miles respectively, who build a high-performance race car for the Ford Motor Company in an attempt to defeat Ferrari at the 1966 Le Mans.

THE IRISHMAN

Martin Scorsese’s latest offering features a stellar cast, headed by Robert de Niro as Frank Sheeran, who reflects on his life as a hustler and mob hitman, working alongside many notorious figures, including Jimmy Hoffa.

JOJO RABBIT

The World War II satire following a lonely German boy named Jojo whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic and he has to confront his blind nationalism.

Opens at Vox Cinemas on 30 January.

JOKER

Joaquin Phoenix’s failed comedian Arthur Fleck encounters violent thugs while wandering the streets of Gotham City dressed as a clown and slowly descends into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

LITTLE WOMEN

Louisa May Alcott’s classic gets a reboot, telling the story of the March sisters childhood in 1860s Massachusetts and the events that shape their lives.

Opens at Vox Cinemas on 30 January.

MARRIAGE STORY

Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson portray a couple riding the raw emotional rollercoaster of experiencing divorce while navigating custody for their son.

1917

Set in World War I, two British soldiers must stop an attack by the British 7th Division that will result in a massacre by the Germans.

ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD

Quinton Tarantino goes back to the heyday of Los Angeles in 1969, where TV star Rick Dalton and his stunt double navigate around an industry and a city they hardly recognise anymore.

PARASITE

This film takes an honest look at how greed, class discrimination and a mysterious interloper threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan.
