We know for a fact you’re part of the 99 per cent that searched for these terms on Google this year.

While it’s pretty obvious our need to find things out always seems to build up curiosity, Google, our trusty and handy-dandy search engine made sure to compile everyone’s search history to select the top most searched.

And with 2024 soon to close in just a few weeks, a little rewind isn’t so bad, right? There’s no need to fret, it’s nothing overtly chronically online.

According to Google, compared to 2023, 2024 had an even bigger bump in search volume for these globally and in the UAE.

Below, you’ll find exactly which terms literally made codes go haywire with searches.

News

@poojachopra.4 UAE's National Meteorology Centre confirms that yesterday, April 16, UAE witnessed record-breaking rain, highest in 75 years. Thankfully the weather seems to be getting back to normal in Dubai after yesterday's floods. In the news category, it makes sense why “Rainfall in UAE” made it to the top of the list. In this desert country, rain always seems to be a sign that everyone is obsessed with. From the uber-crazy rain that happened in April (the thrill, the scare), to cloud-seeding over the summer and the usual winter woes with drizzles.

Let’s face it, Coldplay is the bop we’ve been listening to for years. And we’ve seen the UAE come to life with real craziness when they announced their Music Of The Spheres concert will grandly arrive in Au Dhabi in January 2025. Like, have you seen how quickly those tickets sold out in just a few minutes? Oh, don’t get me started on the online qeues.

Movies

For movies, it’s a battle between Inside Out 2 and a #BookTok fave, It Ends With Us. Of course, as a certified movie critic (not), Inside Out 2 for sure made everyone bawl when Anxiety popped out. But the most notorious fact that got everyone brawlin’ for more? Healing the inner child. Of course, Coleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us won’t be left to dust. Everyone in the UAE went legit crazy (both good and bad) when the book-turned-movie arrived to the theatres.

These New Year’s Eve events in DXB are gonna be a vibe.
