Gather up some snacks and prepare to buy approximately 5,000 cinema tickets in the next five years: Walt Disney have just announced all the movies to be released before 2023.
On 2 March 2018, Disney laid out its theatrical schedule through the coming years – and the Mouse House also cemented 30 release dates (30!!) for more films stretching all the way through to 2023.
2018
A Wrinkle in Time
The remake of the 1963 Madeleine L’Engle novel stars Oprah Winfrey, Storm Reid, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling and Zach Galifianakis, and tells the story of brave childen travelling across the universe to find their scientist father.

Magic Camp
Magic Camp will tell the story of Roy Preston; a banker who, after being urged by a boy named Andy, returns to the camp of his youth as a counsellor.
Avengers: Infinity War
The 2018 sequel is a two-part film, and follow the Avengers – Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth, etc – as they team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana) to try and defeat Thanos.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
A Star Wars spin-off movie is in the works, and will be a prequel about Han Solo, starring Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han.
The Incredibles 2
The main characters – Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, Violet, Frozone, Dash and Jack-Jack – are back, this time for a story that focusses mainly on Elastigirl’s life of fighting crime. Rumours has it there’s a new lead character coming, too.
Ant-Man and The Wasp
Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is trying to balance being Ant-Man and a new father, when he embarks on a new adventure with The Wasp, played by Evangeline Lilly, when Dr. Hank Pym presents an urgent mission to uncover secrets from their past.
Christopher Robin
A live-action story about the grown up Christopher Robin from Winnie The Pooh is happening, staying Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell.
It’s currently shooting, and expected on August 3, 2018.
The Nutcracker and The Four Realms
Keira Knightley is set to play the Sugar Plum Fairy in this live action adaptation of the Christmas story, alongside Jack Whitehall as Harlequin, Helen Mirren as Mother Ginger and Morgan Freeman as Drosselmeyer. It watched a young girl transported to a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice – aka, the dream.
Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2
The retro-gaming animation is back for a sequel, which follows Ralph and Vanellope as they travel the internet in an attempt to find the piece of tech to save the broken Sugar Rush cabinet.
Mary Poppins Returns
With Emily Blunt already cast as Mary Poppins in the live-action remake of the original, which tells the story of a Nanny who moves in with Michael and his three children on Cherry Tree Lane. It’s a classic.
2019
Captain Marvel
Another awesome female led superhero film hits up our screens in 2019, with Brie Larson taking on the lead role and Samuel L. Jackson starring as Nick Fury.
Due for release on March 8, 2019 aka International Women’s Day.
Dumbo
The live-action adaptation of the story of the big-eared flying Elephant will star Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Colin Farrell, and be directed by Tim Burton. We cannot WAIT.
At the Cinemacon event on March 24, Disney revealed a first look at Dumbo, as well as revealing some exciting details about the film – the live-action version will actually open the same way that the animated original closed: with the elephant taking flight for the first time.
“The original ends with the elephant flying,” DeVito said at the convention. “This one begins with that and goes even further.”

Disneynature’s Penguins
Not a lot is known about this film, except that Slash Film say it’s due for release on April 19, 2019.
Avengers 4
You remember what we were saying about Avengers: Infinity War having two parts? Yeah, this is the second part, but as of yet it doesn’t have a proper name. It’s likely to show the second have of the infinity war.
Star Wars episode IX
Yep, another Star Wars movie – which the details about this one being more sparse than the last. What we do know, though, is it will be directed by Jurassic World‘s Colin Trevorrow.
Aladdin
Disney have confirmed Naomi Scott will take on the role of Jasmine, Mena Massoud as Prince Ali and Will Smith as the Genie, in the live-action remake of Aladdin.
Toy Story 4
Yep, they’re doing another one. Toy Story 4 will be a love story between Woody and Bo Beep (finally!), as he and Buzz Lightyear go on a journey to find her after she’s given away.
Disney confirmed on the Toy Story 4 Facebook page that it was coming on June 21, 2019. Yaaaaas.
The Lion King
Directed by the man behind the live action version of The Jungle Book, Jon Favreau, a remake of The Lion King is coming and it sounds AMAZING. Beyonce, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover are all confirmed to be involved.
Artemis Fowl
The movie will be based on the science fiction fantasy novels Artemis Fowl, written by Irish author Eoin Colfer. The stories featuring the criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl II and an evil pixie. No cast has been announced yet and it’s currently in pre-production.
Frozen 2
Don’t pretend you haven’t been counting down the days to this for as long as you can remember. See you there?
2020
Mulan
Following the success of the live-action version of Cinderella, Disney announced loads of other cartoons were being made into real life productions, including Mulan – the story of a young girl who disguises herself as a warrior in order to save her father.
Chinese actress Liu Yifei, also known as Crystal Liu, has been cast in the title role.
Untitled Indiana Jones sequel
Disney initially said the fifth Indiana Jones film would be released in summer 2019, but BBC report they pushed it back a year. Details are sparse, but we do know it’ll be directed by Steven Spielberg. Released in cinemas July 19, 2019.
Gigantic
Inspired by classic story Jack and the Beanstalk, the movie will follow Jack, who stumbles upon giants in the sky and befriends a 60 ft, 11-year-old girl named Imma.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3
James Dunn, who wrote and directed the first two Guardians Of The Galaxy movies tweeted on January 14 2018 that a third film was “coming in 2020”. If the future Marvel date Disney has locked down is anything to go by, could it be a July release?
Disney also locked down release dates for their upcoming movies, and whilst we don’t know what is released on which date – or if the above film release dates have been moved to the below ones – expect something exciting on the following dates:
