There’s never a shortage of swanky new resort’s and hotel’s in Dubai, so it’s no surprise that we’re often at the top of traveller’s wish lists when it comes to sun, sand and a whole lot of luxury. If you keep your eyes peeled, you’re also likely to spot a celeb or two. Just recently, P. Diddy, Liam Payne and Naomi Campbell have paid us a visit. And of course, not forgetting the gorgeous Olivia Culpo – Cosmo Middle East’s March cover star.

And so, when we heard whispers that a hotel ‘with a difference’ was about to open its doors, we sat up and paid attention.

10 years after arriving in Dubai, the famous Queen Elizabeth II (QE2) cruise liner has been transformed into a floating hotel, permanently docked at Port Rashid.

With a history spanning almost 50 years, in her lifetime the QE2 completed 1,400 voyages, sailed six million nautical miles, and entertained almost 2.5 million passengers. She also served as a troopship in the Falkland War of 1982 and completed 25 tours around the world. After 39 years, the QE2 retired in 2008 to join Dubai as a prized tourist attraction.

Today, the QE2 continues her legacy as a 13 deck hotel, dining, entertainment and events destination.

Opening on April 18 with a soft launch for some of the dining venues, you’ll be able to experience the full package and spend a night (or two, or three…) on board from October this year.

Check-in to one of 224 rooms and suites across different cabin classes. Many guest rooms feature original portholes that peer out to the Arabian Gulf, or the iconic Dubai skyline. Want to experience what life was like for the Royals’? Book a stay in the Captain’s Club Room with a balcony.

After its grand launch this coming October, you’ll also be able to experience an interactive museum, a spa and swimming pool, a theatre and a cinema. There will also be 13 dining and nightlife options – including some of the ship’s original restaurants.

We can’t wait to step aboard. We’ll be the ones at the bow re-enacting that famous moment from the movie, Titanic!
