If you’re staying in the sizzling region this summer, I have a suggestion: check-in immediately to Four Seasons Resort at Jumeirah Beach. The beachfront oasis (also described as one of Dubai’s five-star hotels) is boasting some serious deals and activities to help keep our cool over the next few months.
After dropping my bags in the room (if you stay for 3 nights or more you receive a minimum of 10 percent discount on room rates), I closed the door on the private balcony and sea view and headed straight for one of the hotel’s three serene swimming pools. I set up home in a shady beach cabana (available for rental for a minimum food and beverage spend of Dhs300 per person for a maximum of four guests) and indulged on fruit skewers and a soothing cucumber and aloe vera based mocktail. Delish.
FYI, if you’re feeling fancy, day villas are available to rent for Dhs1,800 a day, for up to four guests, Dhs800 of which is redeemable on food and drink. Tempting…
After working up a serious sweat (from doing absolutely nothing except sunbathing), I retreated to the spa – aka the sanctuary away from the desert heat – for a cooling treatment unique for the summer. The 60-minute Summer Breeze Body and Face Experience (Dhs650) involves an indulgent coconut oil-based leg and foot massage (combining the use of Cryo-Sticks that soothe the skin and regulate blood circulation) plus a fresh facial. Throughout the summer months, you can also enjoy 30 per cent discount on all 60-minute treatments, so you can pick your fave (or try all of them, just sayin’).
In the evening I trotted down to Sea Fu, the beachfront restaurant that is usually closed for summer. This year, the Japanese hotspot is staying open, between 7pm to 11pm, for dinner only. I tucked into a Torched Miso Salmon, Crunchy Avocado and Lobster Dynamite roll, served with the added dramatic flair of Instagram-friendly dry ice.
Yes, there are perks of travelling over summer, but with such a lavish stay on our doorstep, it really makes you question the need. Put simply, I choose rejuvenation over the race to airport baggage drop any day.
