Feeling like a rule breaker and sneaking your own snacks into the cinema is synonymous with seeing the actual film on a big screen, isn’t it? Putting your game face on, adopting a James Bond sleuth-style attitude, and burying supermarket popcorn in the bottom of your tote bag.

If you’re thinking ‘yep, yes, yup’ while nodding your head, this new piece of information is about to change your cinema experience forever.

Twitter user @halilmemz took to Twitter to ask a question we all assumed we knew the answer to, tagging three major cinema chains in the process. “Am I allowed to bring my own food and drinks into the screen?” he asked, @ing Odean, Vue and Cineworld’s official accounts (in case you don’t know, these are the major cinemas in the UK). 

Vue were the first to reply, commenting, “You sure are! You’re welcome to bring your own cold food and non-alcoholic drinks into any of our venues. I hope this helps 🙂 – Rachel”

They later added, “No sneaking needed anymore… As long as it’s considered cold, you’re able to bring your own food and drink into our venues. Cool, right? -Dani”

Odeon then replied, “Hi! No problem at all, we just ask that they aren’t hot, too smelly or alcoholic 🙂 – Katie”

And Cineworld made it a full house, adding, “Hey Bünyamin, as long as it’s not hot or strong smelling food, you’re perfectly fine to bring it with you.”

Wait, what? Food is fine? It doesn’t have to be a secret? HOW did we not know this before? This changes everything.

Other Twitter users agreed. “So all this time I’ve been doing spec ops when i can just casually walk in with my snacks???? [sic]”, one wrote, while another added, “This changes everything.”

Too right.
