Last night was a big night for British film, but for one Dubai resident, it was a huge evening! Film producer, Lucan Toh, took home an award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, for Under the Shadow, along with Babak Anvari (writer/director), Emily Leo and Oliver Roskill (fellow producers).

Lucan has lived in the UAE since 2006, originally living in Abu Dhabi, before moving to Dubai with his wife, Sophie, who founded Toh Pr. Ahead of the London awards ceremony last night – which was attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – Lucan’s wife posted a cute shot of her dress for the occasion on Instagram…

The award winning movie, Under the Shadow, is a thriller, which tells the story of ‘a mother and daughter struggling to cope with the terrors of the post-revolution, war-torn Tehran of the 1980s, [when] a mysterious evil begins to haunt their home,’ according to IMDB. The movie was also nominated for Outstanding British Film, but lost out to Ken Loach’s I, Daniel Blake.Â
