We have found ourselves in the second week of January, my dear sweet readers, and to some women (me) that means one thing and one thing only; Valentine’s Day is almost here. The sickeningly amorous day is creeping closer and closer and, the fact that we are so incredibly single has never dawned on us more than it is right now…
Let me set the scene for you; I was innocently minding my own business, and heading off for a run last week – because I’m trying out that whole “New Year, New Me” trend, and attempting to stay fit (lying to myself, obvs).
During my painful journey to self-improvement, not only did I find myself running with one or two couples at my local park; I was surrounded by a bunch of them! It was like an epidemic. One couple was running arm in arm – they were doing it so effortlessly that it looked as simple as breathing. Another, loved up pair were by the lawn, laughing away, as they helped each other do sit-ups. WHO LAUGHS WHILE DOING SIT-UPS? Psychos, that’s who.
Now, I’m not usually the type of person that wants what other people have (another lie, I’m only human…), but watching them not only work out together but, have fun while doing it, left me green with envy.
After coming back from my run, seven emotions hit me like a bus, most of which, I’m sure all my single pringles can relate to:
1. Wow, I’m So Alone, The Voices In My Head Are Laughing At Me
2. Is It Really That Bad?
3. I Wonder Which Of My Male Friends I Could Guilt-Trip Into Taking Me Out This Valentine’s…
4. Wait A Second, I Don’t Need A Man. I’m Amazing On My Own.
5. Why Won’t Anyone Love Me?! *Sobs*
6. No. Stop It. I’ve Got A Successful Career And Amazing Friends. I’m Really Fine. Who Needs Love?
7. Me. I Want Love. Love Is Beautiful. I’m Going To Find It.
In short, yes, you may be single right now but, remember it’s only temporary. Love is all around, you know as the song goes. It’s not the end of the world if you spend this Valentine’s with your gal pals instead of an S.O. It’s also not wrong to want to find love this time of year and, don’t you ever let anybody make you feel bad about that.
I’ll leave you with one last bit of advice before I go; you always find what you’re looking for, once you stop looking. So, just take a breath, and you never know, Prince Charming may just be around the corner. *Screams: “hurry on along you, sure-to-be-adorable, idiot.”*
