Festival szn is well and truly underway, and it’s already bringing us a slew of iconic musical moments. This weekend, the UK hosted its annual Glastonbury festival, a huge-scale musical and arts festival drawing in crowds from all over the world and a lineup of the biggest artists of our time. Among them, Saturday’s headline act Coldplay put on a show like no other. Notedly, bringing out none other than Palestinian-Chilean singer Elyanna as a surprise guest.
Performing at Glastonbury is yet another milestone for Arab star Elyanna, who already sold out a tour in America and became the first singer to perform in Arabic at Coachella. On Saturday night, the previous Cosmo ME cover star joined Coldplay during their headliner set, singing two songs with them to a casual crowd of 100,000 people.
Elyanna performed Coldplay’s 2019 song, ‘Arabesque’ alongside Femi Kuti, as well as the band’s newest single, ‘We Pray’, featuring Little Simz and Burna Boy.
“I’m soooooo emotional rn”, wrote the singer in a heartfelt Instagram post. “14 years old Yanna that watched coldplay live from a very far seat would be so proud today”.
During their set, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin also called on the crowd to spread love to Israel and Palestine during a world peace speech, saying, “You can send it to anyone: you can send it to your grandmother, you can send it to Israel, you can send it to Palestine, you can send it to Myanmar. You can send it to Ukraine, you can send it to beautiful Russia. You can send it anywhere – you can send it all over the world from Glastonbury.”
