A huge explosion has been reported in Beirut, with 10 feared to be dead.

The videos posted to social media show what looks to be smoke, possibly from an initial blast, and then a huge second explosion hits.

It has been reported that even four kilometres from the epicentre of the blast, the city is in ruin with buildings losing nearly all their windows and glass covering the roads. Trees have been shredded and debris has covered the city.

Lebanese security have said at least ten people have been killed in the blast, however this is a preliminary figure. It has also been reported that the blast was felt in Cyprus, 145 miles away.

The Lebanese Red Cross are requesting that only people in ‘critical or severe cases’ call their emergency number so that they can help the people who need it the most first. They are also appealing for blood donations at the hospitals of Beirut to deal with the influx of casualties. It has been reported that The Red Cross have said there are ‘hundred of casualties’.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been identified.
