Dubai’s bustling Sheikh Zayed Road is set for a temporary closure over the long UAE National Day weekend.

In a strategic move to accommodate the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference COP28 and the 52nd UAE National Day celebrations, traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi from Trade Centre Roundabout all the way to the Expo Intersection will be rerouted, starting December 1 and ending on December 3, 2023.

Traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road will be rerouted over the UAE National Day weekend

The announcement, made by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) via the Dubai Media Office, detailed the rerouting of traffic that will be in effect daily from 7 am to 11 am.

As the UAE gears up to commemorate 52 years since the unification of its emirates, the closure serves as a strategic measure to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during what will be a busy period marked by increased festivities. This three-day weekend is officially declared a public holiday, offering both public and private sector employees a well-deserved break.

During the temporary closure, commuters will be directed to alternative routes, including Jumeirah St, Al Wasl Road, Al Khail Rd, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Rd, and Emirates Rd.
