The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On is back for a second season, with eight new episodes dropping on Netflix on the 23rd August 2023. While fans are already looking the cast up on social media and speculating about which couples are still together, we’re also wondering when the show was filmed.
The show follows five couples, where one person has issued the other with an ultimatum: either we get engaged, or we break up forever. During the experiment, the couples ‘break up’, and enter into a ‘trial marriage’ with one of the other participants, before entering into a ‘trial marriage’ with their own partner, to compare experiences.
At the end of the 10 episodes, viewers will then see whether the couples get engaged, or split for good. But when was the series actually filmed?
When was The Ultimatum: Marry Or Move On season 2 filmed?
By looking at the social media accounts of the participants on the show, it’s clear that none of the contestants shared anything between September 2022 and November 2022 – around a seven week period, aka the length of the show.

Also, none of the contestants have shared a photo of their partners from the show after September 2022, which suggests that’s when they signed a non-disclosure agreement or similar with Netflix, to say they wouldn’t ruin the outcome. Season 2 was filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina, and nine months later, dropped on Netflix in August 2023.
Interestingly, this was a much shorter production window than season one of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, and also the spin-off, The Ultimatum: Queer Love. Fans of the show will know Queer Love was actually already in post-production when the first series aired in April 2022, but didn’t come out until May 2023.
