Studies have shown that 44% of cancer cases diagnosed in women are that of breast cancer, but the treatment for breast cancer is at an all-time success rate, with new technologies constantly being developed. We’ve rounded up ten ways to get involved in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, happening throughout the whole of October, to spread awareness, education and positivity.
PINKtober with Dubai International Financial Centre
This October, Dubai International Financial Centre has partnered with more than 200 shops and restaurants to provide a super exciting array of offers. Highlights include lattes with pink ribbon art at Vibe DIFC, 25% off all services at Momentous Beauty Lounge and 30% off products at Himalaya Wellness, plus many, many more.
Eat cake at Brunch and Cake
Brunch and Cake, the Dubai foodie favourite, is known for their seriously tasty and Instagram-able treats. This October, all of the proceeds from their rose-hued carrot cake will be donated to Brest Friends and Al Jalila Foundation. Instagram boomerangs at the ready!
Get an acai cone with Tropicool
The dreamy acai berry is full of multiple health benefits and is super yummy; it’s the perfect pool day/morning meeting/anytime anywhere accompaniment. In honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the proceeds from all acai cones sold at the Dubai Mall Tropicool outlet between the 15th and 22nd of October will be donated to the Pink Caravan Charity. As if we needed another excuse for our daily acai!
Also, Freedom’s Curiosite Corset tee
Also, Freedom has launched the cutest ‘statement of femininity’ with their Curiosite Corset tee. The 100% cotton tee is embroidered with the ‘borrowed and edited’ French motto Liberte Egalite Curiosite. Throughout the month of October 15% of profits go equally to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Pink Fund.
Yoga with DIFC and Inspire
Dubai International Financial Centre’s Gate Avenue and wellness studio, Inspire are joining forces to host a breast health education and curated yoga class to empower women and help spread awareness. On Wednesday 28st October at 5pm (in outdoor area Zone B of Gate Avenue, DIFC) the yoga class will be taking place and will consist of a discussion with certified family physicians and dieticians and a 45 minute yoga class inspired by the power of femininity.
Up your sportswear game with L’Couture Collections
Homegrown athleisure brand L’Couture Collections is donating 20 percent of all sports bra sales throughout the month of October, with all donations going to the Al Jalila Foundation. L’Couture Collections’ initiative is based around the motto of ‘Fight Like a Girl’ and they are on a real mission to empower women!
Yoga and sweet treats at Aloft City Center Dubai
Family friendly hotel Aloft City Center Dubai is hosting guests and residents to celebrate this month with a special bake-sale on Sunday 18th, where they will be selling speciality pink donuts. If donuts aren’t your thing you can also join in their Wellness Day on Friday 23rd with relaxing hatha yoga sessions.
Visit the mobile clinic at La Mer
After the success of their amazing project last year, La Mer is hosting another free screening programme this month. On the 16th and 17th, you can visit their mobile clinic for a completely free screening, and keep your eyes peeled on their IGTV too as they’ve got some super inspiring survivor’s stories coming up.
#Pinktober at Grosvenor House and Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa Dubai
Grosvenor House Dubai and Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa are standing together to host #Pinktober themed culinary events throughout October, supporting the Brest Friends programme. To raise funds for the Al Jalila Foundation, take your girlfriends and try the Pink Brunch at Sloane’s, a special set menu dinner at Indego by Vineet, a delicious ‘Rhoast’ at Rhodes W1 or the Pink Brunch at Maya Mexican Kitchen and Bar! So many options, so little time!
Wash with Washmen
Throughout the month of October, Washmen has partnered with Al Jalila Foundation and Brest Friends to launch the Pink Bag initiative. Washmen will be donating 5% of every pink homecare bag to raise money to support breast cancer research and treatment in the UAE. Simply washing your sheets and towels with Washmen will contribute towards education, research and emotional and financial support. Wash with Washmen this October!
Indulge with dessert at Couqley French Bistro and Bar
The fabulous Couqley French Bistro and Bar has created a special Pinktober dessert, priced at Dhs52, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Al Jalila Foundation. The pink dome shaped framboise-speculoos is filled with a raspberry yoghurt mouse and crushed lotus biscuits. A yes from us!
UAEJJF supports Pinktober
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has put together an initative gathering women from different background and ethnicities to share their stories of hope, empowerment and inspiration to drive awareness around the disease and encourage regular health check-ups. The initiative will also include messages of support and encouragement from decorated female fighters. UAEJJF board member Samira Al Romaithi said “our objective is to spread the benefits conferred on the human body through regular exercise and through fostering a positive outlook on life”.
Yas Mall Pink Run
On Friday 16th October The Pink Run is being held to observe the annual Breast Cancer Awareness month with an aim to ‘educate and increase awareness in the community’. The indoor running competition will include a 2.5km, 5km, and 10km distance track which is inclusive and accessible for all fitness levels at the Yas Mall. Skip the gym on Friday and raise money instead!
Arwa’s Beauty Beliefs
MUA Arwa Beig has ran an amazing competition on her social media, raising awareness of breast cancer and has chosen three inspiring cancer paitents and survivors who will be sharing their journies. Arwa was inspired by their “bravery, strength and resilience” and is giving each lady a beauty makeover followed by a lovely dinner. As a treat, she is gifting each woman a staycation for 2 at The Address Downtown, The Palace Hotel and The Address Boulevard.
Pretty Little Thing’s PJs
PLT have teamed up with Coppa Feel, a charity doing amazing things to educate young people on the importance of checking for breast cancer. They have created an exclusive collection of 23 pieces of super cute nightwear and lingerie. The pieces are the perfect girls-night-in look and help promote awareness too.

Etihad have used their iconic plane to raise awareness for how to check yourself for breast cancer. How you ask? By checking the symptoms on their aircraft engines, of course! Throughout the month of October, Etihad will be sharing images of their aircraft, modified to represent some of the earliest symptoms of breast cancer. Like an educational version of spot the difference!

Hair Donation with Dabur Amla
Hair loss is a traumatic experience that can come with breast cancer, and Dabur Amla (the leading hair oil brand in the GCC) has joined hands with UAE non-profit Friends Of Cancer Patients and Tips & Toes Salon and Spa to launch an amazing initiative encouraging hair donation. At 23 Tips & Toes salons, you can get a free hair-cut (and 30% of colouring services) when donating your hair. The donor’s hair needs to be clean, dry and healthy, of natural colour (dyed is fine, just dyed a natural colour) and at least 30cm long. This is the ultimate feel-good pamper session!
Grab a pink coffee with Benefit at Tiny House Café, Jeddah
Benefit Cosmetics have teamed up with dreamy Jeddah café, Tiny House Café, to create a delicious (and pink) menu. Proceeds from items ordered from the limited-edition menu will be donated to Zahra Breast Cancer Association. They have also released a campaign video with the hopes of raising awareness among Saudi women and supporting patients and survivors alike.
Balenciaga’s We Are Pink
Fashion house Balenciaga has created a limited edition We Are Pink collection of unisex products in support of breast cancer prevention research. Ten percent of the proceeds from the collection are going to help fund a research program at Institut Curie.
