The plot: We’re hugeeee Sally Rooney fans over here. Her previous works have been nothing short of masterpieces (remember Normal People?). With a cover like art, Intermezzo really doesn’t give much away. This is Rooney’s fourth novel and tells the story of grief, love and family. This is a vivid read following two brothers and their journey to repair their relationship.

Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors

The plot: Moving on swiftly to sisterhood, Blue Sisters is about three estranged sisters in another story about navigating grief and identity. The sisters are significantly different from one another and all deal with different addictions. This novel has received an incredible 4 stars on Goodreads and has been nominated for the 2024 Goodreads Choice Awards. TikTok users say this book is everything they never knew they needed and that Coco Mellors writes like poetry.

I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue

The plot: You’ll be pleased to know that the next book on our stack is a more light-hearted piece of fiction named after that familiar email starter “I hope this finds you well”. Natalie Sue’s first ever novel follows Jolene who accidentally gets access to her colleague’s private emails. Awks. Fans of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine will ❤️ this.

What A Way To Go by Bella Mackie

The plot: Author of How to Kill Your Family (if you haven’t read this yet you need to), Bella Mackie’s newest novel stars a bunch of relatable characters. Say hello to your new crime mystery obsession: What A Way To Go. The story starts with a bang when an awful patriarchal multimillionaire dies in mysterious circumstances 👀. We can’t wait to finish this!

A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston

The plot: Author Ashley Poston is a New York Times bestseller for a reason. This is exactly what we picture when we’re looking for a cosy romance book to curl up with. Eileen, the main character is just like us and loves to get lost in a happily-ever-after. In A Novel Love Story, Eileen gets lost in the pages (literally) when she finds herself in a fictional world.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

The plot: Set in Tokyo, Japan, this story is about a café giving coffee sippers the chance to travel time. A unique concept, it makes you think about what you would do if you could travel time?

If I could travel time I’d go back and read Harry Potter again for the first time.
