While we still haven’t recovered from “You are the bane of my existence and object of all my desires.” from season 2, we still can’t wait for Bridgerton Season 3 to drop ASAP. With a long list of Bridgerton siblings yet to have their stories unravelled, the news is out that season 3 will be focusing on Penelope and Colin.
The Bridgerton’s IG recently posted one of their infamous notes with the caption, “Miss Penelope Featherington cannot remain a wallflower forever, as all plants thrive best in the sunlight.”
With Bridgerton Season 3 focusing on Penelope and Colin, the series will not be following the order of the books where Benedict’s storyline was expected to be the next one in line.
Why is Bridgerton Season 3 not following the order of the books?
Honestly, that’s a question on everyone’s mind but before we get into that, we must let you know that Chris Van Dusen, Bridgerton’s showrunner, stepped down post-season 2 with Jess Brownell taking his place.
In an interview with Variety, Jess shared her decision to stray away from the books’ order, “I really feel like it’s Colin and Penelope’s time. Because we’ve been watching both of these actors on our screens since Season 1, we’ve already invested in them a little bit. We know who they are as people,” she said.
“I feel like, especially in the last season, there are these moments of tension between them where it’s like, Colin walks up to the line of almost realizing that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn’t quite get there. Instead of treading water on that dynamic, we wanted to push it into their season. It really felt like the perfect moment to tee it up.”

What else do we know about Bridgerton season 3?
The characters confirmed to return so far are Penelope, Colin, Kate, Anthony, and Daphne as well as the siblings who have yet to marry. P.S. Still manifesting that Regé-Jean Page will magically change his mind.
