We’ve all heard of green rooms, backstage spaces for performers to gather in before, during and after their shows. But The Green Room is about to take on a whole new meaning here in the UAE, thanks to two American University of Sharjah alumnae, Vivi Semaan and Sali Ealgab. The two friends have launched The Green Room, a project that brings green rooms to musicians around the UAE, hopping from city to city with a stage, mic and opportunity for anyone who wants to perform.

The best part? Any one of you could be the next performer. The annoucments of the who, what, when and where are posted on their Insagram and Facebook at least two weeks in advance, so that perfomers and audiences alike are kept up to date on the shows.
Since their launch last year The Green Room has held events at Elevation Burger, Middle-East Film & Comic Con, at popular burger van Salt, the Sharjah Arts Foundation and Palm Jumeirah Broadwalk. So listen out for an event near you!
Speaking about the launch of their exciting venture, Sali Ealgab told Cosmo that she knows of several young musicians who have lacked the resources to become performers post-graduation and she sought to change that, along with her partner-in-crime, Vivi Semaan.
And the rest is down to you! It doesn’t matter what genre or which instrument you play, if you fly solo or are a part of a band… the idea is to have your music heard beyond the walls of social media.
“[We want to work] side by side with the artist to grow their portfolio, promote their music and mentor them, in order to have them realise their goals,” Sali went on to tell us.
With Vivi adding, “Our online portal will allow for potential clients to see musicians’ portfolios and offerings online, and select what they need accordingly.”
