Not sure what to do this weekend? Well we’ve got a few awesome ideas and they involve yummy food, fun music and NO frizzy hair when you go out in the evening! Check these out, October is busy you guys! 

#1 Train Beach Club at La Mer 

If you’re in the mood to go out, but too lazy to actually DO anything while outside – look no further because Train Beach Club is the answer you’ve been looking for. It just recently opened and the pool looks AMAZING. There are lounge chairs, hanging swing begs (so Instaworthy) and on the weekends they have a poolside DJ. It even has the stunning view of La Mer beach and you can just imagine how beautiful the sunset would be right? And FYI, Train Beach is licensed, so you can sip on a cold beverage, get a gorgeous, golden tan and listen to some good music.It’s been a long week, you deserve it girl. 

#2 Big Bad Wolf Book Fair

Now I love a good book, but sometimes, it’s just so pricey. But have no fear, the big bad wolf is here! LOL. The world’s biggest book fair – ‘Big Bad Wolf’ has made a come back in Dubai with discounted prices on all books.  I went to see if it was really true and a book that costs Dhs109 in retail outlets, costs Dhs32 at this fair. Can you believe it?

#3 Outdoor Cinemas are Back! 

It’s nearly winter in Dubai and being outdoors is everything. So, if you want to go out on a romantic date or have a fun night out with your girls, the Urban Outdoor Cinema sounds like the perfect thing to do. There are comfy outdoor sofas to lounge on and the cinema even has an order service where you can get yummy snacks, pizzas and tapas! I don’t know about you but I’m bringing a blanket with me so I can feel all cozy and warm while watching a good film. A Star Is Born is playing this Saturday. You know you want to watch it again.

#4 Dubai Fitness Challenge Begins! 

The Challenge happens for a month every year and there are over 300 really cool events and free classes to push your body to the limit. (I know I need to after sitting for months binge wathcing Netflix. Don’t judge me, you do it too.) It’s easy to stay up to date on the new events via the Dubai Fitness Challenge App which is free. Take your friends with you, put on some cute yoga pants and let’s get fit!

#5 Go to the Cucumber Carnival (Yes, you read that correctly.)

The Cucumber Carnival is taking place at the SoHo Garden in Meydan. There’s going to be workshops, performances, shows and obviously amazing food. Here’s the cool part: if you bring a cucumber, SoHo Garden gives you a free tonic beverage for free. They specify that it’s only one per day, per person, so don’t come bringing 10 cucumbers and expecting 10 drinks people! 

So let’s break down the days: 

October 17, ThursdayThe Electric Swing Circus is coming with interactive shows and more. There’s going to also be cucumber corquet, tug of war and the Cucumber Cup Horse Race! Then in the evening, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm there will be a fancy, banquet-style dinner for Dhs250 a person, with juniper-inspired dishes. All washed down with free-flowing juniper drinks! YUM! 

October 18, Friday – There will be a special juniper-themed high tea from 3pm to 5pm for Dhs250 per person. 

The carnival sounds like so much fun! 

#6 INSOMNIA The Gaming Festival is Here!

 

Calling all Gamers! INSOMNIA is a huge UK gaming festival and it’s in Dubai THIS WEEKEND! There will be Meet and Greets with your fave influencers in the gaming world like Sideman and Jason Paige! There will obvs be a chance to play your fave games like Fortnite, Apex and Call of Duty. Platinum List metioned that retro games would be available too! On top of that, there will be cool VR games and live entertainment for the entire family. What’s really cool is that the event is completely plastic-free so they are taking effective steps to save the planet. *applause*

#7 Diwali Night at Zabeel Park 

Diwali is the Festival of Lights in India and Dubai is celebrating it this Friday, Zabeel Park. It’s an event to bring your famiy and friends along with you! There will be shows, live singing, a children’s fashion show along with Indian food stalls, and shops with accessories, clothing and cosmetics! So put on your best Indian ethnicwear and come to the park to celebrate this special Festival. It’s going to be LIT (Get it? Cause fesitval of lights? I’ll stop now.)

#8 Halloween Themed Brunch

The Media One Hotel’s ‘Garden on 8’ is celebrating Halloween by decking up their space with spooky decor to get into the season. They will be hosting not one but TWO brunches – one in the day and one at night! The restaurant has warned customer that there will be scares everywhere and that dressing up in a costume is encouraged! So take your friends and family along so you can all be scared together while having delicious treats and themed beverages.
