Wednesday August 28 (tomorrow, people!), is the fifth annual Emirati Women’s Day, following its initial launch in 2015.

This date is super meaningful as it coincides with the birth of the General Women’s Union on August 28, 1975. HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak announced this year’s theme: ‘Women, Icons of Tolerance.’ She explains, “women exemplify the values of tolerance via their patience, care, and ability to raise future generations, as well as their success in various fields of work.”

There is A Lot to celebrate, especially this year. In December 2018, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of the UAE, passed a new law which allowed women to occupy 50% of the country’s Federal National Council in next year’s election. That is AMAZING and so empowering for Emirati women.
