Greek cuisine is as hot in Dubai as the actual sun right now, so we’ve rounded up 5 unmissable food venues from the city’s epic food scene to allow you to eat Greek to your heart’s content. Thank us later.
Ammos
Meaning “sand” in Greek, Ammos is charming, authentic and most importantly, serves delicious food. With almost 30 years of culinary experience, multi-award-winning Chef Dimitris Lazarou has crafted a menu full of fresh dishes that celebrate Greek culture. The homemade tzatziki served with grilled pita is divine, and more never seems to be enough when it comes to the Feta Tyropita (feta cheese wrapped in filo pastry, placed on chunks of watermelon and drizzled with Greek honey), tender lamb chops and perfectly cooked grilled octopus. Housed next to the lively pool area of Rixos Premium Dubai, Ammos is ideal for friends, families and date night. With incredibly friendly staff, dishes that really are delicious and a casual vibe, it does tick all the boxes.

Ena
Located on The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah, modern restaurant Ena boasts seriously impressive and unspoiled views of Atlantis hotel. The Tyrokafteri – spicy feta dip – with homemade bread and Greek salad, served with fresh Oregano and Greek olive oil dressing, is to die for. In-fact, the Greek salad is one of the best in the city, we’d say. The Greek ingredients are directly sourced from villages in Greece, and only the finest produce and farms are used. Impressive stuff. It’s well worth a visit.

Gaia
This super fancy restaurant is always busy – a pretty telling sign of an excellent restaurant. Taking residence in DIFC, Gaia is arguably the most attractive restaurants in town, thanks to the colour palette of white painted woods and cream walls and perfect lighting. The baked feta swimming in honey is beyond good, and you can’t go wrong with the range of dishes from mezze to pasta and fish. Don’t forget to have a nosy around the kitsch souvenir shop they’ve set up downstairs. Trinkets and olive oil, anyone?

Opa
Instagrammers, this one’s for you: Opa’s entrance is a magicial mixture of olive trees and pink bougainvillea. Food wise, it’s admittedly not quite on the level of the other restaurants – we’d say starters are stronger than mains. These are the best ones: grilled pita with olive oil and oregano, Opa hummus topped with crispy lamb and roasted pine nuts, tuna tartare and grilled Cypriot halloumi with grilled fig and grape dressing. Yum. Another huge plus point of the restaurant, located in Fairmont Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road, is it provides complimentay plate smashing. So. Much. Fun.

Taverna Greek Kitchen
The restaurant, which has popped up in Souk Madinat Jumeirah, wins with a seriously stunning waterside location and rustic interior (think stone walls, wooden beams and dim lighting). The open-style kitchen and cosy surroundings allow us all to be transported to a local Greek family-run restaurant, and the food concept is traditional sharing style with a wide variety of meze including cold plates, salads and appetizers. Highlights include Ksidato Octopus (slow braised octopus with vinegar, oregano and extra virgin olive oil), Tzatziki, Taramosalata and Athinaiki. We’ll be back.
