All anyone is talking about is the Barbie movie. And you know what? That’s how it should be, because the movie is really, really great. Margot Robbie makes an incredible Barbie. Ryan Gosling absolutely crushes it as Ken. And director Greta Gerwig managed to make a movie about a plastic doll, particularly the ending, actually interesting. It is a feat of modern cinema. And you might be asking yourself: How can I watch this candy colored dreamscape at home? We’re here to help with that.
Where is Barbie streaming?
Barbie is a Warner Bros. movie, and if you don’t know, Warner Bros. recently merged with Discovery, and they unveiled a new version of HBO Max simply called Max. That is, theoretically, where all the Warner Bros. movies will go after they are done with their theatrical runs. It’s possible you’ll also be able to rent the movie on other platforms, but it’s unclear yet where.
But is it on the service yet?
Definitely not. The movie is very much still in theaters. And while there was a period of time during the pandemic when movies would premiere simultaneously in theaters and on their respective streaming services on the same date, that’s not nearly as popular anymore. So you’ll have to wait to stream it at home. And unfortunately, Warner Bros. has not announced a streaming date for the movie yet.
So where can I see it?
You’ll have to buy tickets! The movie is quite literally crushing it at the box office, and it’s very much worth seeing in a theater. (I would know, I’ve seen it twice!) You will not regret taking this one in with a huge tub of popcorn, surround by a bunch of people wearing their favorite pink outfits.
